announced today that Scott Meltzer has joined the company’s sales team in the position of director, specialized sales. He will be working from the BioSurplus Boston megastore and will focus on high-end, pre-owned lab equipment sales to local, national, and international customers.

Prior to joining BioSurplus, Meltzer was owner and president of Stoughton, Mass.-based Laboratory Acquisition Services, where he provided asset management services consisting of acquisition, disposition and equipment management services to major research facilities, biotechs, hospitals and universities locally in New England and on a national level. Among the high-end analytical equipment he specializes in are autoclaves, bioreactors, fermentation units, Turn-Key analyzers, GC-GCMS systems, mass specs, HPLC systems, ICP-MS systems along with general laboratory and scientific instrumentation.

Meltzer also spearheaded a number of large donation programs, at one time working with EMD Serono to arrange a $200,000 equipment donation to the Southeastern Regional / Bristol-Plymouth Technical School District in MA.

Meltzer graduated with a BS in marketing and finance from Roger Williams University, and counts on over 20 years’ experience in capital equipment asset management and sales. Meltzer is transitioning his business at Laboratory Acquisition Services to BioSurplus as part of his employment; he is a resident of North Easton, MA.
