Avantas, a leading provider of strategic labor management technology, services, and strategies for the healthcare industry, announced today that the company achieved its highest annual top-line revenue growth in FY2013, which ended June 30. The company also announced that it increased its workforce more than 30 percent in the last year in response to growing demand for its HELM methodology (healthcare enterprise labor management) and Smart Square® labor management solution. The growing trend of consolidation in the healthcare industry has created an increased need for efficient, consistent labor management across organizations, which Avantas addresses with its services and technology.

Avantas announced new client wins during this fiscal year, including WellStar Health System and Penn State Hershey Medical Center, which includes nearly 50 physician practice sites. Both organizations are leveraging Avantas’ HELM methodology, an approach that combines and embeds the science of workforce planning, demand forecasting, and operational best practices with a complete set of scheduling and staffing tools. Each health system is up and running on Smart Square scheduling software, providing a transparent view of staffing, scheduling, and productivity at the enterprise level. Capabilities of the solution include identifying utilization trends, designing strategies based on demand information, outlining the workforce demographic, identifying trends in staff dissatisfiers, and quantifying high-margin opportunities.

“The healthcare industry has been getting much more sophisticated about labor management in the wake of healthcare reform, and that has helped to make this a tremendous year for Avantas,” said Chris Fox, CEO, Avantas. “It has been a deeply rewarding experience over the past year helping to lead such a dedicated team and we look forward to continuing this momentum in the coming year.”

The current roadmap in terms of development initiatives over the next 8-12 months includes enhanced forecasting through the Predictive Model, a more robust Business Intelligence Engine, and customized functionality for Medical Group practices as key strategic initiatives.

Developers of the HELMmethodology (healthcare enterprise labor management), Avantas is devoted to serving the healthcare industry. Its proprietary approach to managing labor consists of consulting services and a scheduling and productivity solution, Smart Square®. This comprehensive approach provides its clients with tailored best practice labor management strategies designed to drive substantial and sustaining cost and quality improvements across the enterprise through automation.
