Atlas to Participate at IHE North America Connectathon 2012

CALABASAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Atlas Public Health today announced plans to participate at the 2012 Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) North America Connectathon. The conference will be held from January 9-14, 2012 in Chicago, IL. The Company will be testing the XDS.B and XD-Lab profiles.

The Company, a participant in previous IHE North America Connectathons, will this year be testing the XDS.B profile for transmitting immunization and syndromic data in fulfillment of the ARRA / HITECH Act “Meaningful Use” requirements. The XDS.B profile transports the aforementioned data from Electronic Health Record (EHR) applications to state health departments. In conjunction with XDS.B functions, ATLAS will be testing the XD-Lab profile for transmitting Electronic Lab Reports (ELRs) via HL7 Clinical Data Architecture in fulfillment of public health reporting requirements as well as “Meaningful Use”.

The Company will use its Guardian™ Public Health suite of software, including EHR Gateway, to demonstrate how a state health department can receive immunization, syndromic and ELRs from electronic systems by utilizing the standards outlined by IHE within the Patient Care Coordination Technical Framework.

Guardian EHR Gateway provides automated reporting of clinical data from hospitals' EHR applications to the public health department, improving efficiency and reducing errors by eliminating the need to re-enter patient data. And, Guardian boasts a highly configurable alerting system that allows users to receive notifications related to disease subsets, jurisdictions, status or events that are of interest. “ATLAS continues its efforts to improve data interoperability between systems, while protecting the patient and community by utilizing our powerful Guardian solutions,” states Mark Marostica, Atlas Public Health Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

According to the IHE website, there will be seven IHE Domains testing at the 2012 Connectathon, including Radiology, IT Infrastructure, Patient Care Coordination, Quality, Research and Public Health, Cardiology, Lab, Pathology and Patient Care Devices.
