API Healthcare, architect of the revolutionary , today announced that President and Chief Executive Officer J.P. Fingado was named a finalist in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2013 program in the Midwest. Fingado was recognized for his demonstration of excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.

Fingado has achieved significant milestones since becoming president and chief executive officer in 2008. API Healthcare has more than doubled the number of clients it serves, made two strategic acquisitions, entered into numerous partnerships that have strengthened the company, grown from one to three national offices and redefined the marketplace with the Healthcare Workforce Information Exchange (HwIE). All of these efforts have reinforced API Healthcare’s position as the leader in healthcare workforce management technology.

“It is an honor to be recognized by Ernst & Young with this prestigious entrepreneurial award,” said Fingado. “At API Healthcare, our mission is to improve the delivery of healthcare by empowering health systems and staffing agencies to better develop and manage their workforce. Our team is passionate about improving the lives of healthcare providers and enabling hospitals to run more efficiently. Those benefits reverberate throughout communities across the country because hospitals are often one of the largest local employers. I am fortunate to be surrounded by talented, motivated associates that are committed to making a difference to healthcare organizations and the communities they serve.”

Celebrating 30 years in business in 2012, the company, under Fingado’s leadership, most recently achieved a record breaking 60 percent year over year increase in sales bookings and double-digit revenue and EBITDA growth. In the first quarter of 2013, API Healthcare achieved a 25 percent increase in sales bookings over the same period the previous year.

Leading the industry in innovation, the company’s full suite of workforce management solutions enables healthcare organizations to control costs and improve employee satisfaction. Behind leadership, technology such as the Healthcare Workforce Information Exchange (HwIE) is revolutionizing the way that healthcare organizations think about the strategic development and deployment of human resources.

Having created a culture that supports associates and their families and encourages work-life balance, Fingado’s entrepreneurial spirit extends beyond the company’s Hartford, Wis. headquarters where he teaches Junior Achievement at local elementary, middle and high schools in Mequon, Cedarburg and Hartford with a focus on Business Ethics and Global Trade.

Now in its 27th year, the Entrepreneur Of The Year Program has expanded to recognize business leaders in more than 140 cities in more than 50 countries throughout the world. Midwest regional awards will be presented at a special gala on June 27, 2013 at the Hilton Hotel in Chicago and national award winners will be announced in November.
