American Dental Association accidentally sends out malware-infected USB drives

Some USB drives sent out by the American Dental Association to dental offices around the U.S. are infected with malware, according to a report from Healthcare IT News.

The flash drives began shipping out in late 2015 and contained 2016 dental procedure coders. A "small percentage" of the devices were found to have malware on them, transferred to the drives during the manufacturing process by a subcontractor of a vendor of the association.

The problem was found, according the report, when a member of an online security forum tested the device to see how secure it was and found the malicious code. Article
