Alpha Systems to Provide Document Scanning Services to Howard University Hospital

HUNTINGDON VALLEY, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Alpha Systems, a premier provider of electronic patient chart management solutions, announced that Howard University Hospital, one of the largest healthcare providers in Washington, D.C., has selected Alpha Systems to digitize over 10 million pages of medical records.

Alpha Systems will scan patient medical records and load these new electronic images into Siemens Soarian, giving healthcare providers a comprehensive electronic view of each patient’s care.

Brett Griffith, president of Alpha Systems, commented, “We are honored to be selected by Howard University Hospital to help them digitize their paper medical records with our scanning services.” He added, “Having electronic access to millions of patient documents will enable greater efficiency and better patient care. With ICD-10 coming, it is critical to have electronic access to health information. For many hospitals, there is still a significant amount of health information on paper.”

Kim Bussie, senior director of Revenue Cycle Health Information Services, said Howard chose Alpha Systems because the company was simply the best fit, by far. “We did an extensive search, and we reviewed a number of companies,” Bussie said. “We did several customer site visits and visited Alpha Systems headquarters. A big plus was the company’s technology platform and its ability to easily integrate with the hospital’s current electronic health records. We found their responsiveness and quality of work to be outstanding.”
