Alpha Systems Hosts 9th Annual Conference: Navigate Through the Changing World of Health Information

HUNTINGDON VALLEY, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Alpha Systems held its 9th annual healthcare conference, August 11-12 at the Seaview Resort in Galloway, NJ. The conference hosted nearly 100 guests from some of America’s leading healthcare providers. Executives and Directors from forty-three hospitals and health systems representing 7 states were in attendance.

Julie A. Dooling, Manager of Professional Practice Resources, AHIMA spoke on “Using Document Management as a Compass to Your EHR” and Diana Warner, Manager of Professional Practice Resources, also with AHIMA spoke on “The Impact of Accounting for Disclosures.”

Day two of the conference focused on ICD-10. Speakers included John Glatthorn, Practice Director at Optera Healthcare Strategies who provided education on managing the change from ICD-9 to ICD-10. Barbara Lopez, Manager of the Data Integrity Department at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, PA presented how her organization has spent the past year preparing for ICD-10 by integrating CDI, ICD-10 and Meaningful Use initiatives. And Shiny George, Director of HIM Informatics at the University of Pennsylvania Health System and Director of Health Information Management at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA spoke on Penn Medicine’s strategy to prepare for the switch to ICD-10.
