Advanced ICU Care®, the nation’s largest provider of tele-ICU services, has announced new tele-ICU partnerships with several hospitals across the U.S., including one new systemwide agreement and partnership renewals with two current client hospitals. The company’s continued growth demonstrates the increasing need for remote tele-ICU support as a result of a rapidly aging population and shortage of ICU intensivists and staff, among other key factors.

With these new partnerships and renewals, Advanced ICU Care now reaches more than 500 hospital beds, which represents 33 percent growth over the past six months. Advanced ICU Care’s growth includes a new systemwide agreement with SSM Health Care, headquartered in St. Louis, Mo., a new three-hospital relationship with St. Elizabeth Healthcare in northern Kentucky and extended contracts with ProHealth Care, a community-based health system in Waukesha, Wis.

“Advanced ICU Care is thrilled at the prospect of supporting these new and existing hospital clients,” said Mary Jo Gorman, M.D., MBA, chief executive officer for Advanced ICU Care. “As with all of our client hospitals, our systemwide partnership with SSM Health Care will help generate hospital wide enhancements and positive results in patient care and clinical efficiencies.”

“Advanced ICU Care’s growth is the result of our proven track record, combined with the growing need for ICU support as baby boomers age and patient cases become more complex,” said Gorman. “The nationwide shortage of board-certified intensivist physicians makes it increasingly challenging for a hospital to provide the 24/7 monitoring by these specialists that delivers the best patient care and clinical outcomes. If the ICU is not operating optimally, the clinical, operational and financial performance of the hospital may be negatively impacted. Working in collaboration with the hospital’s critical care team, we help improve ICU patient care with a 24/7 solution that addresses these challenges.”

Advanced ICU Care provides each of its hospital clients with remote ICU patient monitoring services to ensure an extra layer of support for ICU intensivists and nurses. The company also works with hospital staff to implement its ICU Performance Solution™, a robust quality improvement program that helps enhance ICU clinical and operational outcomes and best practices.

"With the collaboration among the physicians on staff at St. Elizabeth, the hospital critical care team and the remote telemonitoring oversight of Advanced ICU Care, we are able to further enhance the already high quality of care our patients receive," said Robert L. Prichard, Jr., M.D., senior vice president of physician services and chief medical officer at St. Elizabeth Healthcare. “Advanced ICU Care brings a seamless, patient-centered solution that supports and enhances the high-quality care to the communities we serve.”

“Physicians appreciate the continuity of care that Advanced ICU Care provides, and our nurses appreciate having an extra set of eyes and the availability of another clinical resource for patient care,” said Laurie Lawson, director of the intensive care and heart care units at ProHealth’s Waukesha Memorial Hospital.
