Chutes & Ladders—Newton-Wellesley CEO departs for Boston Scientific; Detroit Medical Center hires new exec

Boston Scientific 

Michael R. Jaff is leaving his role as president of Newton-Wellesley Hospital to join Boston Scientific as vice president of clinical affairs, innovation and technology, peripheral interventions. 

Jaff has been president of the hospital since 2016, and he is credited with overseeing the development of an acute care surgery program and a robotic surgery program as well as engaging design thinking firm IDEO to help Newton-Wellesley reimagine the patient experience.

Newton-Wellesley is part of Partners HealthCare. Gregg Meyer, M.D., who is Partners' chief clinical officer, will serve as interim president during the search for a permanent leader for Newton-Wellesley, it was announced.


Audrey Gregory

Detroit Medical Center

Audrey Gregory was named president of the Detroit Medical Center and CEO of DMC's Adult Central Campus, which includes Harper University, Hutzel Women's, Detroit Receiving and Heart hospitals.

She will also have market-level operational oversight for the Rehabilitation Hospital of Michigan and Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Gregory will report to DMC CEO Anthony Tedeschi, M.D.

Gregory was formerly market CEO and CEO of St. Francis Hospital-Memphis, and was also formerly chief nursing officer, chief operating officer and CEO at Placentia-Linda Hospital in Southern California.

Tenet Healthcare

Sally Deitch was named chief executive of Tenet Healthcare's Memphis market and Saint Francis hospitals. 

She will also oversee Tenet's Mid-South Group, which includes four facilities in South Carolina. She is replacing Gregory.

Deitch has been Tenet’s chief nursing officer and VP of patient care services since May 2018.  She previously served in a number of CEO positions in Tenet facilities including in El Paso.


Rick Travers

Rick Travers was named chief technology officer of eHealth Technologies

Travers was previously the CTO  at Medicine-On-Time.

As CTO at eHealth, Travers will lead all technical aspects of the company. Travers began his IT career in the U.S. Air Force as a software engineer. 


Atrium Health named Chandra Peterson as its new senior vice president of enterprise strategy and planning.

> The Federation of American Hospitals named Joe Britton as executive vice president of public affairs.

Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Pennsylvania named Trina Abla its new chief medical officer.
