York Central Hospital Joins the Medworxx Patient Flow Community

With the addition of York Central Hospital, Medworxx Patient Flow covers more than 1,500 beds in the Central Local Health Integration Network in Ontario, Canada

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Medworxx Inc. (“Medworxx”) (TSXV: MWX), a leader in clinical patient flow, compliance and education solutions, today announces the addition of York Central Hospital in Richmond Hill, ON, to the Medworxx Patient Flow community, licensing 370 beds at the hospital. York Central is located in one of Canada’s fastest growing communities, and now joins the fold of Medworxx Patient Flow clients representing 38% of acute-care beds in Ontario, and 30% nationwide.

“We believe that smoothing patient flow and improving quality of care can be accomplished hand-in- hand, and we’re confident that Medworxx provides us with the tools, support and best practices to do this,” says Frances Reinholdt, the Operations Director of Medicine, Critical Care, Emergency Department and Patient Flow at York Central Hospital.

Medworxx Patient Flow supports York Central’s 2011-12 top three priorities: improving patient satisfaction, reducing patient waiting times and achieving budget targets. One of the hospital’s Central Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) peers, Southlake Regional Health Centre, is also a Medworxx client and their program has been showing positive patient flow and care quality results – including a 39% reduction in Length of Stay in acute-care cases.

With 2,126 employees, York Central will be implementing the Medworxx Patient Flow platform, including Utilization Management (UM) and Medworxx Assessments (AS). In particular, the Medworxx AS Alternative Level of Care (ALC) Assessment will allow York Central to have seamless submission of required data to the Wait Time Information System (WTIS) administered by Ontario’s Minister of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC).

“More than 1,500 beds in the Central LHIN – including Markham Stouffville Hospital, Stevenson Memorial Hospital, Southlake Regional Health Center, Humber River Regional Hospital and now York Central - are utilizing Medworxx Patient Flow Solutions to move forward with the strategic goals at the LHIN level and within their hospitals,” said Dan Matlow, President and CEO of Medworxx. “We work on large scales where hospitals must act on individual and population-based information. We also hold Provincial-level agreements in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Alberta and British Columbia.”

Medworxx Patient Flow, including Medworxx Utilization Management and Medworxx Bed Board, serves more than 30% of acute-care beds in Canada, and approximately 1,000 beds in the United Kingdom. With a total of approximately 21,000 beds licensed internationally, the company meets a universal, health system-agnostic need to measure and monitor appropriate levels of care.
