Brighton Radiology, with 23 physicians, serves five hospitals and four satellite facilities in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio, and handles about 430,000 procedures annually. Ed Estrin, MD, president of Brighton Radiology, said the group’s in-house billing operation has served the practice well over the years. But as healthcare has changed and reimbursement has become more complex, he said, it has become increasingly clear that a scalable revenue cycle solution was necessary to support further practice expansion.

“Standardizing around revenue cycle best practices, including coding, documentation and AR management, is essential if we wish to continue growing our operations in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio,” Estrin said. “We feel fortunate that, in McKesson, we’ve found a partner who can provide the services we need to take the organization to the next level. We are excited about what we can accomplish with McKesson by our side.”

Pat Leonard, president of McKesson Business Performance Services, said that senior, tenured members of Brighton’s billing staff will be evaluated for employment at the McKesson office in Pittsburgh, Penn. Leonard added that McKesson continues to rapidly expand the number of physician practices served in Pennsylvania.

“We’ve accumulated a lot of knowledge about area payers, providers and patient populations, and that’s one reason we’re able to continually refine and enhance the services we provide to our clients in the Keystone state,” he said.

“Brighton Radiology is a great example of a radiology group that understands both the challenges and opportunities present in today’s marketplace, and realizes that it is increasingly difficult to go it alone. We look forward to working alongside them to help the practice continue to prosper in the years ahead.”

Formed in 1978 with four radiologists, Beaver, PA-based Brighton Radiology today provides a full range of imaging and interventional radiology services through nine facilities in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio.
