WellPoint CCO stepping down by August's end

According to a report by the Indianapolis Business Journal, WellPoint internal audit and chief compliance officer Randall J. Lewis is set to leave the health insurance company toward the end of August. Lewis, who started at the WellPoint in 2003 when it was called Anthem, is currently the highest-ranking black executive at the company.

While the reason for Lewis's departure are unknown, WellPoint CEO Angela Braly confirmed that he will continue working with the company to ensure his successor is fully up to speed.

"I am confident that the professionalism and graciousness which characterized Randall's leadership throughout his career here will be beneficial to all during the transition," Braly said in an email announcement to employees.
