Facility at Rifle Receives Federal Grant for Improvements
WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Department of Veterans Affairs is awarding more than $2.4 million to make improvements, including energy conservation measures, to the Colorado State Veterans Home at Rifle.
“Our federal-state partnership ensures that comfortable and safe housing is provided in a caring community for Colorado Veterans who have served their country,” said Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki.
VA’s grant will cover approximately 65 percent of the project’s cost, which carries a $3.7 million price tag.
Last year, VA spent more than $3.4 billion in Colorado to serve the state’s 418,000 Veterans. VA has major medical centers in Denver and Grand Junction, outpatient clinics and Vet Centers across the state, and national cemeteries at Fort Lyon and Fort Logan.
Colorado operates state Veterans homes in Aurora, Florence, Monte Vista, Rifle and Walsenburg. Information about the facilities is available on the Internet at www.colorado.gov.
