URAC Announces New Subscription Service for Health Care Management Standards

WASHINGTON, April 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Today URAC announced a new subscription service designed to ensure that the latest detail and guidance on URAC's national quality and efficiency standards for health care management are available to educators, researchers, consultants, policy makers and quality managers.

Founded in 1990, URAC is an independent, nonprofit health care accreditation body. Its accreditation standards cover nearly every functional aspect of health care management from utilization review and case management to health Web sites and pharmacy benefit management. URAC accredits more than 400 health care organizations doing business in the United States under at least one of its more than 20 accreditation and certification programs. Thirty-eight states, the District of Columbia and the federal government reference accreditation in state and federal statutes, regulations, agency publications, requests for proposals or contract language.

"URAC is committed to promoting and disseminating national health care management standards that provide a foundation for quality improvement," said Alan P. Spielman, URAC's president and CEO. "URAC's new subscription service responds to the needs of professionals who rely on this information to improve their operations, provide consulting services, teach health care management or make sound health policy decisions."

Subscriptions are available on an annual basis for individual sets of accreditation standards, or for the entire catalogue of URAC accreditation standards. Individuals and organizations that purchase a full access subscription are given unlimited, electronic access to all of URAC's standards sets and interpretive information -- including access to new accreditation programs and standards revisions as soon as they are developed. The AccreditNet system providing the subscription information is dynamic, so any changes made to any standard or interpretive information is automatically updated for all subscribers.

Organizations that currently hold URAC accreditations will not need to purchase a subscription for the programs in which they are accredited, as ongoing access is already provided through their existing AccreditNet applications.

Subscriptions are available for purchase on the URAC website at www.urac.org/subscription/. For more information about subscription services or other URAC education products send email to [email protected] or call (202) 216-9010.
