University Hospital discloses details of controversial merger

University Hospital in Louisville, Kenn., has finally disclosed information on its proposed merger with Jewish Hospital & St. Mary's HealthCare in Louisville and St. Joseph Health System in Lexington, reports The Courier-Journal. County Attorney Mike O'Connell filed suit against University Hospital, claiming that details were important to the "hundreds of thousands of people" who be affected by the merger. The organization released documents that include the bylaws and articles of incorporation of the new system, which has yet to be named. Denver-based Catholic Health Initiatives will have majority control under the terms of the deal: Council members of the Louisville Metro Government are withholding $803,000 from the budget unless they are certain that care for gay and lesbian patients, domestic partners, and reproductive care will not be affected by the merger. Article
