Third Season of 'Comics Unleashed' to Fight Autism

LOS ANGELES, June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Entertainment Studios, Inc., a multi-media content provider and the largest independent producer/distributor of first-run syndicated television programming, today announced a charitable partnership with the non-profit organization Autism Speaks. The "Comics Unleashed"/Autism Speaks association will involve several charitable efforts, including public service announcements and comedian memorabilia auctions. Proceeds raised will benefit Autism Speaks, the nation's largest autism advocacy organization.

A daily half-hour comedy series, "Comics Unleashed" has been renewed in New York on WCBS, Los Angeles on KABC, and in Chicago on WCIU for Fall 2008 and Fall 2009. Currently cleared in over 90% of U.S. television households, "Comics Unleashed" was also renewed in 17 Clear Channel Television markets -- one of the largest television group deals in Clear Channel's history. "Comics Unleashed" excels as a daily half-hour comedy talk show, offering a solution to broadcast television stations with declining numbers of off-network sitcoms. With 131 produced episodes featuring 337 comedians, "Comics Unleashed" has helped fill this void, and is set to produce an additional 260 episodes for the next 2 seasons.

The first syndicated show to premiere in High Definition, "Comics Unleashed" was created and developed by Byron Allen, Chairman and CEO of Entertainment Studios, Inc. "Autism is an epidemic and we at Entertainment Studios are committed to raising awareness of this troubling disorder which affects millions of families," said Allen.

"We thank Byron Allen and Entertainment Studios for this opportunity to reach new audiences with our message of autism awareness and to raise funds in support of the work we do on behalf of individuals with autism and their families," said Mark Roithmayr, president of Autism Speaks.
