TeleTracking's Transfer Center Conference Draws Major Interest

Providers hear how patient flow can help optimize patient transfer

NAPLES, Fla., April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Optimizing patient transfer and referral potential through better patient flow was the theme of the inaugural Transfer Center Conference, hosted by TeleTracking Technologies April 19-22.

The event drew clinical staff from 32 major U.S. healthcare providers, who heard expert advice on how to create, staff and maximize the performance of Transfer Centers, which are centralized departments dedicated to streamlining the transfer of critically ill patients from outlying facilities for specialized care.

Over the three-day event, participants discussed streamlining the way transferred patients are admitted and delivered to the appropriate treatment team in a timely fashion. Transfer Center personnel from Lehigh Valley Health Network, of Allentown, PA, Scripps Health, of San Diego, CA, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, of Philadelphia, PA and North Mississippi Medical Center, of Tupelo, MS shared their successes with the group. They were followed by a panel discussion on staffing, operation, equipment and technology, patient placement and metrics for success, led by Lisa Romano, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer of TeleTracking's Avanti Patient Flow consulting division.

TeleTracking now offers a comprehensive TransferCenter™ software solution, which will be even further enhanced when it becomes a fully integrated extension of the company's patient flow software solution.

Avanti's specialists, who have 110 years of combined experience in transfer center management, critical care nursing and flight nursing, are collaborating with transfer center leaders across the country to design and promote best practices in managing the transfer of critically ill or injured patients.
