Telescope Inc. and Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Los Angeles County Join Forces to 'Text for the Cure'

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 15, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Interactive television and mobile marketing pioneer, Telescope Inc. is giving back this holiday season in their new partnership with pink adorned, Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Los Angeles County, to raise money and awareness for their fight against breast cancer, with a holiday mobile giving campaign.

Telescope's business has been built around driving participation on hit shows such as American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, America's Best Dance Crew and many more; and now the mobile agency is putting that same drive behind a philanthropic cause.  This season, Telescope and Komen LA are sending more than just a holiday card to their partners; they have included a mobile short code within their card as a call to action for their text-to-give mobile campaign.  Respondents are instructed to text GIVE to a short code and with each text reply sent into the campaign, Telescope will make a donation to Komen LA on their behalf.

The Susan G. Komen organization was formed around a promise Nancy G. Brinker made to her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982 that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, the organization is the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures.  The Komen organization has invested more than $1.5 billion to fulfill that promise, becoming the largest non-profit funder of breast cancer research in the world.

"Telescope sees huge potential for charity fundraising through mobile technology, and we are honored to have the opportunity to work with Susan G. Komen LA County, an organization that has made an amazing difference in helping cure breast cancer. We are thrilled to help advance their efforts in raising awareness through this emerging form of marketing," said Ori Nakar, Telescope CTO.

"In this age of social media and so many ways to reach people, we are grateful that technology and the kindness of innovative companies like Telescope can use their creative resources to help spread awareness and raise much needed funds to help people right here in our own community," said Brynn Harris, Community Relations Manager for the Susan G. Komen Los Angeles County Affiliate.
