SPOTLIGHT: Tough approach from Aurora holds implant costs in check


The Street's Melissa Davis offers an intriguing case study this week, looking at how Milwaukee's Aurora health care managed to cut what it pays orthopedic implant suppliers by nearly fifty percent since instituting an "all play policy."  Instead of allowing it's orthopedic surgeons to make decisions over which brand of implant patients get, the hospital has opened up competition to all vendors.
