SPOTLIGHT: Medical device maker looks to save money by recycling

In an effort to save money, medical device maker Stryker agreed on Monday to acquire Ascent Healthcare Solutions--a company that helps hospitals recycle medical devices--for $525 million. Despite the somewhat questionable nature of the practice, Stryker CEO Stephen MacMillan believes that "reprocessing and remanufacturing is one of the most impactful programs in use at hospitals, allowing for significant cost savings."
