Sharon O’Keefe Joins Vocera Board of Directors

Appointment adds renowned hospital and healthcare expertise

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Vocera Communications, Inc. today announced the appointment of Sharon O’Keefe to the organization’s board of directors. Ms. O’Keefe is the president of the University of Chicago Medical Center and a nationally recognized authority on hospital operations, healthcare quality, patient satisfaction and employee engagement.

In January, Ms. O’Keefe joined the Illinois Hospital Association’s Board of Trustees. Prior to her appointment at the University of Chicago Medical Center, Ms. O’Keefe was president of the Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill. She has held several key positions throughout her career, including director of nursing at Johns Hopkins, associate hospital director at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx, N.Y., senior vice president for operations at the University of Maryland Medical System in Baltimore, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Harvard Medical School teaching affiliate Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and chief operating officer at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. She also spent two years as a senior manager for healthcare at the accounting firm Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young). Ms. O’Keefe holds a B.S. in nursing from Northern Illinois University and a M.S. in nursing from Loyola University of Chicago.
