Semtech Becomes Gold Sponsor of New UCLA Daltrey / Townshend Teen Cancer Unit

Semtech contributes $25,000 to UCLA Health System to support new youth center for cancer patients

CAMARILLO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Semtech Corporation (Nasdaq:SMTC), a leading supplier of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, today announced it will contribute $25,000 to the UCLA Hospital System toward the development of a new treatment center at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center for teen and young adult cancer patients. The donation was sponsored by both Semtech Corporation and the Semtech Leadership Team.

With the donation, the company becomes a gold sponsor of the Daltrey / Townshend Teen & Young Adult Cancer Program at UCLA specifically designed to improve the support and social environment of patients and their families while receiving treatment at the hospital. The unit will provide a comforting group environment to allow the young people to cope with the treatment and long hospital stays.

UCLA Health System hosted a private benefit called, “Rock for Teens” on November 5th, with rock legends Roger Daltrey, Robert Plant and others in support of the new UCLA program to support the Teen Cancer Program.

“Our goal with this sponsorship is to help UCLA Hospital System build an environment for young people to get the best possible care, compassion, and support they need during difficult challenges while going through cancer treatment,” said Mohan Maheswaran, president and CEO of Semtech. “Participating in such a worthy cause allows Semtech to help improve the social support that teens and their families need while receiving various types of cancer treatment.”

"We feel confident that this historic launch of the first Daltrey/Townshend Teen & Young Adult Cancer Program in America will establish a more truly healing environment for our adolescent patients and set the stage for an expansion of the program to medical institutions across the United States," said Dr. David Feinberg, CEO of the UCLA Health System and associate vice chancellor for health sciences. “And we are grateful for the support of the Semtech Corporation for helping us to achieve this goal.”
