Santa Cruz Emergency Physicians to Join CEP America

New partnership will bring enhanced services to Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz

EMERYVILLE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- CEP America and Santa Cruz Emergency Physicians (SCEP) have announced that physicians from SCEP will become Partners in CEP America, the leading democratic emergency physician group in the nation, continuing to provide care to Dominican Hospital’s Emergency Department.

As CEP America Partners, SCEP physicians receive the support and resources of a network of more than 1000 providers in California and 1700 providers nationally. A seamless transition will take place on January 1, 2012.

“We’re excited to welcome Santa Cruz Emergency Physicians to the CEP America Partnership,” said Ellis Weeker, MD, FACEP, CEP America vice president. “CEP America looks forward to working alongside physicians from SCEP to continue to provide top quality, efficient and compassionate emergency care to the entire Santa Cruz community.”

SCEP has managed and staffed Dominican Hospital’s Emergency Department for the past twenty years, and the same physicians will continue to work there as Partners in CEP America. A shared commitment to clinical quality, performance improvement and patient satisfaction made joining CEP America all the more logical.

CEP America, an emergency physician-owned partnership, will provide Dominican Hospital with a wide range of clinical, staffing and administrative expertise designed to augment and enhance clinical quality and service excellence.

Dominican Hospital is a 325-bed acute care facility in Santa Cruz, CA and cares for 41,000 emergency patients each year. A member of Catholic Healthcare West, Dominican has been designated a STEMI Center for emergency cardiac care, and has been certified by The Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center.
