Runners Invited to Participate in Chicago Half Marathon as Part of The Gateway for Cancer Research’s Charity Running Program

The Gateway for Cancer Research() will once again take part in the 16 Annual Chicago Half Marathon and 5K on Sunday, September 9 as a charity member. The Gateway invites all participants of the run to help make a difference in the lives of cancer patients by joining the organization’s charity running team—Team Demand.

Team Demand members not only enjoy the challenge of the run and the scenic views of Chicago, they make their run more meaningful by being a part the organization’s movementto help save the lives of today’s cancer patients. The Gateway is a non-profit organization that demands cures now and funds research for new treatments focused on helping cancer patients feel better, live longer and be cured. Ninety-nine cents of every dollar received goes to fund cancer research.

It’s not too late to register for the Half Marathon and 5K as part of Team Demand, or to join the team even if you’ve already registered. Participants have until August 9, to register at to receive free entry into the run as part of Team Demand, with a low fundraising commitment. Participants registering after the 9 can still join the team, raise funds, and enjoy other team benefits.

Another great way to add to the fun of the run is to gather a group of friends or colleagues to create your own run team within Team Demand. Individuals or teams can challenge each other and create their own fundraising pages at to help spread the word. Those who can’t participate but would like to support the runners can also make a donation at .

Involvement in the run is just one of the many great events that the organization’s expanding charity runner and fundraising program is involved with. Many Team Demand runners, including Dina Bair from WGN-TV Chicago, recently enjoyed splashing through the challenging and very muddy Mudathlon course, in Valparaiso, IN, to help raise funds for cancer research.
