NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- As awareness of the societal impact of insomnia and sleep disorders increases, the International Society for CNS Clinical Trials and Methodology (ISCTM) will host an international roster of experts at the 2011 Autumn Conference, 3-4 October 2011, Amelia Island, Florida, where Tom Roth, PhD, will co-chair a session Beyond Insomnia: Issues in Non-restorative Sleep, focused on addressing the unmet needs of patients suffering from non-restorative sleep disorders.

This ‘working meeting’ will also focus discussion in plenary sessions on: Meta-Analysis: Methods and Applications to Policy and Clinical Trials for Alcohol Dependence. More in-depth work will take place during five parallel workshops: How Can Large Registries Contribute to the Development and Evaluation of CNS Therapeutics?; Evaluating Biomarkers for Schizophrenia: Issues in Identification, Categorization and Evaluation; Assessing Assessment Methodologies: Weighing Choices Based on Indications, Study Design and Needs; Suicidal Thinking and Behavior Assessment: Implementation in Current Trials; Adaptive Design in Clinical Trials.

Dr. Roth, PhD, Henry Ford Hospital Sleep Center, Raymond F. Anton, Jr, PhD, Medical University of South Carolina, Russell Katz, MD, US Food and Drug Administration, and Michael Borenstein, PhD, BioSTAT, are among the esteemed scientists (Full List of Presenters) who will lay the groundwork with presentations to initiate highly interactive discussions between attendees and panelists, for which ISCTM meetings are noted.

Because ISCTM is able to gather representatives from Academia, Industry, Regulatory and Governmental agencies in a collaborative effort to resolve some of the most challenging issues in CNS drug development, the work accomplished at its meetings has proven critical to the field of CNS trial Methodology.

“Each ISCTM meeting is jam-packed with the latest information coming from global leaders in CNS clinical trials. The opportunity for frequent interaction with colleagues about crucial clinical trials issues has generated tremendous enthusiasm, and is part of the reason so many of our colleagues consistently attend the two meetings ISCTM offers each year,” states Richard Keefe, PhD, Duke University. Trialists, clinicians, investigators, and members of industry and academia working in field of CNS trial methodology, are invited to join ISCTM members in this discussion.
