NORTHBROOK, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ReachMD XM Satellite Radio Channel 160, today announced results of its latest poll, showing most physicians and other healthcare professionals favor the recently enacted federal healthcare reform legislation.
ReachMD asked attendees at the Pri-Med Midwest Conference, held Oct. 14-16 in Rosemont, IL: “What is your opinion on the recently enacted Healthcare Reform Legislation?” Slightly more than 66 percent of the respondents indicated they support the legislation in some form. Of the 214 healthcare professionals polled, 38.8 percent fully support healthcare legislation and an additional 28.5 percent support the legislation with changes. Further, 20.1 percent would repeal healthcare reform entirely and 12.6 percent had no opinion.
Attendees were also invited to record their opinions, to be aired on ReachMD. Respondents’ opinions can be heard on “Second Opinion, Live” this Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT. The 30-minute bi-weekly program discusses hot topics in medicine and is hosted by physicians Dr. Matt Birnholz and Dr. Michael Greenberg. Health professionals who commented include a pediatrician/urgent care physician from Illinois, who said, “For me, to have anything less than full fledged health coverage is inadequate.” A physician’s assistant on staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital said, “The one thing that I will say that I am disappointed in is that tort reform is not included in the package. Malpractice has run amuck in this country.”
