Publications Seek to Improve Outcomes for Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis

MONTVALE, N.J., April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Diagnosis and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis in the first few months of disease initiation is critical for a patient's well-being. Yet primary care providers, ob/gyns, and specialists face challenges in meeting the needs of these patients and in developing a coordinated approach to management and referral.

To meet the needs of health care providers, The Journal of Family Practice Special Edition: Current Clinical Practice and OBG Management have published the supplement Management of rheumatoid arthritis: A primary care perspective. This resource provides clinicians and ob/gyns with case-based approaches in presenting the processes underlying rheumatoid arthritis and relating the disease to a simplified, differential diagnosis.

The supplement was published in October 2007. This important publication is available online at http://www.jfponline.com/ccp_article.asp?aid=5775 and http://www.obgmanagement.com/pages.asp?id=5934.

The Journal of Family Practice Special Edition: Current Clinical Practice, a peer-reviewed journal distributed to 96,000 primary care physicians, and OBG Management, a peer-reviewed journal distributed to 40,000 ob/gyns, collaborated with The Chatham Institute, a medical education company and CME provider, to develop this journal supplement. This supplement was supported by educational grants from Abbott Laboratories, Amgen Inc., Centocor, Inc., and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.
