Physicians Urgent Care opened its first Indiana clinic yesterday, providing Mishawaka residents a solution to their urgent and unexpected health care needs. The company also announced two additional clinics for the area, with locations in South Bend and Elkhart opening in the summer and fall, respectively. The Physicians Urgent Care medical teams treat non-life threatening injuries and illnesses, no appointment necessary, seven days a week.

“We are proud to offer service in Indiana and to bring the surrounding areas of the Mishawaka, South Bend and Elkhart communities the expertise, convenience and committed care for which Physicians Urgent Care is known,” said Stan Blaylock, CEO of Physicians Urgent Care.

Today, Physicians Urgent Care celebrated the Mishawaka grand opening with members of the Chamber of Commerce of St. Joseph County and local government officials at the clinic, located at 505 West Cleveland Road in Mishawaka (on the north side of the University Park Mall). The clinic will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends.

“Questions about health concerns can create a lot of anxiety. People worry about things like ‘Is it a virus?,’ ‘Do I need stitches?’ or ‘Is it broken?’” said Dr. Lawrence Miller, one of the Mishawaka clinic’s physicians. “Some injuries and illnesses really can’t wait. When someone in Mishawaka can’t get into their doctor and it isn’t severe enough for the ER, we’re here to help. We cure the worry our patients have about their health.”

The 4,100 square-foot Mishawaka facility features eight exam rooms for treating injuries and illnesses and performing minor surgical procedures, including two trauma rooms, a pediatric room and a hearing booth. To diagnose a fracture or broken bone, the clinic has a digital X-ray system operated by a licensed radiologic technologist. Physicians Urgent Care also offers on-site lab work, some prescription drugs and supplies such as crutches, slings, splints and back supports.

“Having served the northern Indiana community for more than 15 years, I am excited to join Physicians Urgent Care,” said Dr. Eugene Huang, one of the Mishawaka clinic’s physicians. “At Physicians, our patients have the benefit of seeing two doctors who are board certified in emergency medicine and can diagnose, treat and prescribe medicine.”

Urgent care clinics are not only convenient, but also cost-effective. Physicians Urgent Care accepts health insurance, including Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Medicare and TRICARE Standard. The clinic also offers a 30 percent discount* for those without insurance.

“We know that our patients are looking for a reliable and affordable health care option, which is why our clinic focuses on getting patients in as quickly as possible, but we never rush care,” said Dr. Miller. “We take the time to treat each patient thoroughly, and we follow up with them after their visit.”

Beyond walk-in urgent care, Physicians Urgent Care also provides occupational health services seven days a week – offering prompt, affordable care for work injuries, employee physicals and drug and alcohol testing. To help Mishawaka employers lower their workers’ compensation costs, the team expertly balances employee care with each company’s unique business needs.

Physicians Urgent Care, also known as Physicians Immediate Care in Illinois and Oklahoma, is one of the largest urgent care providers in the Midwest and has been serving employers in just about every industry for more than 25 years.
