PHT Corporation Achieves Record Bookings, Revenues and Profits in 2011 with Increased Global Adoption of its Innovative eC

PHT captures 45% ePRO market share, celebrates 500 trials, expands PHT System to support late phase trials, breaks new ground in proving scientific and economic benefits of ePRO for collecting patient reported outcome data

BOSTON & GENEVA--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ePRO Systems provider PHT Corporation turned ePRO innovation into profit as it achieved its best year in company history, capping 12 consecutive profitable quarters and reaching an industry landmark 500 ePRO trials. PHT is the only ePRO Systems provider that covers every clinical research phase from exploratory to post market.

Total bookings for the year rose 34% with revenues growing 15%, bringing PHT’s market share to 45% in an ever-growing market segment. PHT added 14 new customers and 70 new trials, including several NetPRO™ Web browser-based studies used to easily track patient outcomes in observational studies. Sales of PHT’s ePRO System through Contract Research Organization (CRO) partners also increased substantially.

PHT expanded its global footprint to uniquely support clinical trial patient data collection in 97 languages and 67 countries. PHT’s headcount grew by 14%, with growth in service delivery, engineering, marketing and support.

PHT President and CEO Philip Lee said, “PHT’s phenomenal growth in 2011 reflects a worldwide movement toward abolishing paper diaries and adopting ePRO to collect high quality patient data.” Mr. Lee added, “ePRO Systems are the only way to deliver the voice of the patient without distortion or recall bias.”

Mr. Lee unveils 3 key trends in eClinical research this year:

In 2011, Mr. Lee was named one of PharmaVOICE magazine’s 100 most inspiring people in life sciences for his achievements in driving eClinical research innovation. He also was a finalist in the international SCRIP Awards “Executive of the Year” category. Additionally, PHT’s NetPRO™ Web browser-based ePRO System was shortlisted in the category of “Best Technological Development in Clinical Trials.”

PHT’s revenue growth enabled the company to make significant investments in R&D to continue offering an unprecedented range of scientifically proven and cost effective options to collect and manage clinical trial patient data.

PHT’s 2011 ePRO technology advancements enable sponsors and CROs to:

  • Collect patient data on smartphones and/or tablets
  • Monitor ePRO dashboards online or in transit
  • Connect online 24/7 to the world class PHT Support Center
  • Transfer and integrate patient data using the latest industry standards
  • Get training online, on demand and via the medium that best supports the individual’s learning style

Successful implementation of ePRO technology innovations included global deployment of PHT’s NetPRO™ for collecting patient data in large clinical trials and post market studies. Demand rose for PHT’s SitePad® Tablet for collecting PROs and Clinician Reported Outcomes (ClinROs) at the site; and for its LogPad® System which is the world’s most popular eDiary.

Additionally, PHT’s StudyWorks® secure online portal for managing real-time compliance and enrollment added three major capabilities: SmartReports ™ dashboards report on patient eligibility, enrollment and compliance front and center. SmartReports Mobile™ is the first ePRO smartphone application to track site and subject compliance data. And, customers get online support anytime, anywhere with the new Live Chat 24/7.

PHT Vice President of Marketing Sheila Rocchio added, “PHT’s mission is to educate clinical trial sponsors on PRO and ePRO options and to help researchers do good science. We published the ePRO Modality Selection Tool as both a Web and mobile app to make it fast and easy for any organization to select the best ePRO System for their trial or study.”

PHT demonstrated its thought leadership with the success of its 8th Annual PRO & ePRO Congress that attracted global personnel from pharmaceutical organizations, regulatory agencies, CROs, universities, technology providers, and clinical sites. The lively conclave conducted animated discussions and interpreted the scientific, technology and regulatory aspects of PRO and ePRO data in clinical research.

PHT’s Phil Lee said, “PHT is taking ePRO to a new level. Customers choose PHT because they reap tremendous efficacy, safety and cost savings by integrating our ePRO Systems into their eClinical portfolios. This year we plan to expand our System offerings to support even more eClinical integration options as well as direct-to-patient trials. Our primary goal is to make it even easier for customers to make the transition from paper to ePRO.” Find out how PHT is advancing ePRO technology in 2012 at
