(NASDAQ: PRFT), a leading information technology consulting firm serving Global 2000 and other large enterprise customers throughout North America, has agreed to develop software applications on , the largest integrated technology and social business platform in healthcare. One of the first products Perficient will develop on the PremierConnect platform will provide a snapshot of how providers are performing against the 33 Accountable Care Organization (ACO) quality measures defined by the Affordable Care Act.

Perficient and the Premier healthcare alliance worked in partnership with IBM to develop PremierConnect as a business intelligence, data warehousing and social networking solution optimized for the requirements of healthcare provider organizations.

Due to healthcare reform, hospitals and health systems must improve patient care while lowering costs. To do this successfully, they must share information, insights and best practices. Armed with the clinical and financial-based analytical data available through PremierConnect, providers can more meaningfully measure, analyze and understand their performance, and then take action based on these insights. PremierConnect also helps them stay abreast of regulatory and policy shifts related to Accountable Care, Meaningful Use and population health management.

“The applications we’re developing on PremierConnect, including the ACO 33 application and a Total Cost of Care offering, better enable Premier members to meet regulatory demands, enhance collaboration, lower costs and ultimately improve patient care,” said Dr. Marcie Stoshak-Chavez, MD, FACEP, and Perficient’s director of Healthcare. “As a physician, this is a key benefit: we’re under constant pressure to improve care across the continuum while controlling costs, raising productivity and engaging patients. These applications will allow us to address these challenges directly at the point of care.”

“We are on the cusp of the next generation health system,” said Keith J. Figlioli, senior vice president, healthcare informatics, Premier. “We’ve built a platform that promotes collaboration among doctors, nurses and administrators by delivering data, best practices and the collective experience and insight of the Premier alliance to these stakeholders. It supports their diverse requirements while enabling them to create communities of interest around shared performance improvement objectives. Perficient’s commitment to our value-added development partner program will enable our members to accelerate their ability to deliver higher quality, lower cost of care to the communities that they serve.”

Premier, an alliance of 2,800 hospitals and 93,000 other care sites, integrates payor, provider and supply chain data in PremierConnect. The platform links providers nationwide with data on 1 in 4 U.S. hospital discharges, evidence-based best practices from 2.5 million daily clinical transactions and more than $40 billion worth of annual purchasing data. This scope of intelligence enables data-driven, evidence-based decisions that save lives, remove waste and help coordinate care delivery.

“Due to our relationships with Premier and IBM, our deep healthcare technology expertise and our award-winning healthcare national practice, Perficient is uniquely positioned to bring PremierConnect-based applications to the market,” said Matt Castle, director of healthcare systems intelligence, Perficient. “Perficient is committed to developing compelling intellectual property assets for the healthcare industry. To support the performance improvement goals of the Premier alliance, we’ve established a development group that is solely focused on creating clinical, operational and financial business intelligence applications for PremierConnect. ”

The first applications developed by Perficient for PremierConnect will be available to Premier members in the third quarter of 2013.
