Records Show All 102 Inspected Facilities Meet Federal Standards
HARRISBURG, Pa., May 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Department of Environmental Protection said today that all of the 102 mammography facilities it inspected during the first quarter of 2008 were operating within the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's guidelines.
DEP inspects each of Pennsylvania's approximately 400 certified mammography facilities annually under a contract with the FDA, which sets standards for these facilities under the federal Mammography Quality Standards Act.
The inspections help to ensure that equipment is maintained and operated properly.
The inspection information is available through a partnership between DEP and the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition.
