OptumRx Announces Major Expansion in Oklahoma City

OptumRx, a leading pharmacy benefits management (PBM) organization and one of the Optum companies of UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH), announced an expansion in Oklahoma City, where employees will serve the health care needs of millions of Americans.
The announcement was made at a news conference today in Oklahoma City attended by U.S. Sen. James Inhofe and Stephen J. Hemsley, president and CEO of UnitedHealth Group.

The company will hire Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians (who must be licensed to work in Oklahoma), in addition to Customer Service Advocates and a variety of positions involving training and quality management. The company expects the facility to be fully staffed by the end of this year to help ensure OptumRx is prepared to serve UnitedHealthcare employer and individual health plan participants.

The Oklahoma City facility manages mail service order intake and customer service in support of OptumRx and UnitedHealth Group’s pharmaceutical, insurance and health and wellness programs. From Jan. 1, 2012, through the end of this year, the company will have created more than 135 new jobs in Oklahoma City.
