Company chosen by Regional Extension Center to facilitate EHR implementation and adoption
AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- e-MDs, an industry leader in the development and implementation of electronic health record (EHR) and practice management (PM) solutions, announced they have been selected as a recommended EHR vendor by the Ohio Health Information Partnership (OHIP). OHIP is a non-profit entity supported by state and federal grants and serves as a Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center (HITREC) in Ohio. As a preferred vendor, e-MDs will work collaboratively with OHIP to encourage the adoption of EHR technology by the state's healthcare providers, ensuring successful implementation and provider achievement of meaningful use.
Problems associated with successfully selecting and implementing EHRs have been a significant hurdle in the adoption of EHRs and health information technology (HIT) across the country. To overcome this obstacle in Ohio, OHIP issued an RFP to EHR vendors soliciting companies who could provide a certified product as well as the knowledge and technical resources to support successful implementation and achievement of meaningful use. OHIP evaluated over 40 EHR vendors and systems and selected e-MDs based on product performance and its ability to help physicians meet identified criteria in order to qualify for federal financial incentives. OHIP is confident e-MDs will play an integral role in helping Ohio healthcare providers realize maximum potential benefits associated with the use of an EHR, including better patient care and improved financial performance. e-MDs was ultimately chosen based on their commitment to hire and train Ohio residents as EHR implementation and training staff, conduct all technical support within the U.S. and meet national certification and meaningful use requirements.
"We are looking forward with enthusiasm to working with OHIP," stated Michael Stearns, MD, President and CEO of e-MDs. "They are a very forward thinking group and will serve as an invaluable resource to providers over the next several years. OHIP will play key role in the successful adoption of technologies that will markedly benefit the quality of care provided to the citizens of Ohio."
