Company chosen by Regional Extension Center to facilitate EHR implementation and adoption

Problems associated with successfully selecting and implementing EHRs have been a significant hurdle in the adoption of EHRs and health information technology (HIT) across the country. To overcome this obstacle in Ohio, OHIP issued an RFP to EHR vendors soliciting companies who could provide a certified product as well as the knowledge and technical resources to support successful implementation and achievement of meaningful use. OHIP evaluated over 40 EHR vendors and systems and selected e-MDs based on product performance and its ability to help physicians meet identified criteria in order to qualify for federal financial incentives. OHIP is confident e-MDs will play an integral role in helping Ohio healthcare providers realize maximum potential benefits associated with the use of an EHR, including better patient care and improved financial performance. e-MDs was ultimately chosen based on their commitment to hire and train Ohio residents as EHR implementation and training staff, conduct all technical support within the U.S. and meet national certification and meaningful use requirements.
