(NASDAQ: NUAN) today announced a suite of integrated clinical documentation solutions and services specifically designed for physician practices and ambulatory clinics. The Nuance Clinic 360 suite, which allows physicians to efficiently manage mounting outpatient workloads by providing a choice when it comes to documentation methods, includes a new core offering, . This outsourced transcription service and application enables physicians to securely manage the entire clinical documentation workflow from a PC or mobile device, including dictation, review, editing and sign-off on patient documents. The Clinic 360 suite also includes the widely-adopted speech recognition technology,

As the healthcare industry shifts to value-based care, it’s been estimated that more patients will be pushed toward outpatient care. In fact, according to , nearly 70 percent of survey participants predicted that outpatient volume will rise in comparison to just last year. Nuance currently partners with health systems and hospitals and is now expanding its solutions and services to focus on the unmet needs of clinic and practice-based physicians preparing for increased patient volumes. These physicians are not immune to the issues facing larger provider organizations – including Meaningful Use and ICD-10 – and are also in need of solutions that enable them to rapidly produce more accurate and detailed documentation which is essential to enhancing patient care, delivering appropriate reimbursement and meeting ever-increasing compliance mandates.

Documentation is not a one-size-fits-all model, which is why clinical documentation solutions and services must cater to physicians depending on their personal preferences and their specialty’s unique workflow. Physicians in certain specialties, such as oncology, have much higher documentation needs and, as a result, have been adversely impacted as part of the transition to electronic health record systems. In fact, oncologists and other specialists document approximately three times as much as their non-specialty colleagues. Nuance’s Clinic 360 suite is specifically designed to help tackle these higher documentation workloads. By providing a choice in clinical documentation technologies and services, Nuance is enabling clinic and practice-based physicians to eliminate workflow disruptions, drive productivity and enhance the overall patient interaction.

“As a practicing gynecological oncologist, I schedule between 30 to 40 patients visits a day. I simply can’t see the same number of patients and maintain accurate clinical documentation without Nuance,” said Edward C. Grendys, Jr., M.D., FACOG and FACS, Florida Gynecologic Oncology. “Their mobile application and transcription service gives me the freedom to document, edit and electronically sign my patient encounters using my mobile device or PC, and all without falling behind on my patient schedule.”

At MGMA, Nuance is also announcing a new version of available for small to mid-sized independent physician practices. Dragon Dictate Medical for Mac helps physicians more efficiently capture thorough documentation and navigate within the EHR and other Mac-based applications simply by using their voice. Dragon Dictate Medical for Mac is compatible with most Mac-based EHRs, is up to 99 percent accurate out of the box and offers medical vocabularies covering more than 90 specialties.
