Norwalk Company Contracted to Help Doctors Receive Federal Funding

LibertasMD to assist area providers implement healthcare technology

NORWALK, Conn., June 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Norwalk-based LibertasMD will assist more than 500 Connecticut physicians to achieve "Meaningful Use," a federally-designated milestone that will entitle each participating physician to as much as $63,750 in 'stimulus' funding.  To date, the nine-year-old company has signed more than 200 area physicians to its "Latitude" and "Fast Track" services, whereby the LibertasMD staff assists each practice with selection, implementation, training, and support of Electronic Health Records systems from multiple national vendors.

"These programs are a win/win for both practices and patients," explains Barry R. Greene, Chief Executive Officer of LibertasMD. "Doctors who work these programs the right way can get the government to pay for their practice technology, and patients will see a huge improvement in both quality and service at participating practices. It's our job at LibertasMD to make sure each doctor makes cost-effective decisions towards a profitable outcome."

Starting this year, the American Restoration and Recovery Act (ARRA) has begun disbursements to private practices.  To receive this funding, a medical practice must implement an Electronic Health Records system and meet a rigorous set of federal standards known as "Meaningful Use."

Douglas Arnold is Executive Director of Medical Professional Services, an independent physicians' association with over 400 members, including more than 150 Fairfield County physicians. "The problem is, just having an Electronic Health Records system isn't going to get doctors the money," Arnold explained.  "We contracted LibertasMD because their team has the best track record in the northeast.  Our physicians have been very, very pleased with LibertasMD's services."

"Healthcare providers are between a rock and a hard place," added Jim Nelson, LibertasMD's Executive Vice President and Chief Sales Officer.  "They know they have to computerize their records, but are being bombarded with hundreds of "one size fits all" vendors who each have only one piece of the puzzle. LibertasMD makes it simple, cost-effective and profitable for the physician.  What good is $63,000 of stimulus money if it costs the doctor $80,000 to get it?"

LibertasMD offers both low and no-cost programs for qualified area physicians. Interested physicians are invited to visit the company's website at www.LibertasMD.com or call the company's Norwalk headquarters at 877-405-0800.
