New program will test hospital cleaning methods

A new Australian initiative aims to determine the best way for hospitals to contain infections, according to Health Canal. The Researching Effective Approaches to Cleaning in Hospitals program will analyze the participating hospitals' cleaning methods and develop a personalized training program for each, monitoring the new methods for effectiveness, according to the article. A pilot program at Logan Hospital in Queensland will launch in  May. "Instead of saying to cleaners `Here's 40 pages of guidelines, go clean', we will be able to say `Here's five or six things, these are the core principles'. It will bring it back to basics," said Queensland University of Technology Senior Research Fellow Lisa Hall, Ph.D. Article
