MTBC Receives Surescripts Certification for its EMR 4.0, Offers Guarantee for 2% e-Prescribing Bonus Offered Under MIPPA

SOMERSET, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- MTBC, A Unique Healthcare IT Company, has received Surescripts certification for e-prescribing in connection with its Electronic Medical Records (EMR) platform, EMR 4.0. With this Surescripts certification, MTBC now offers a direct connection to the Surescripts network for prescription routing, refills, eligibility, formulary, and external drug history. Accordingly, physicians that use MTBC EMR 4.0 to e-prescribe can not only reduce costs and improve practice efficiency, but also qualify for a 2% bonus on Medicare collections under the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 (MIPPA).

Physicians interested in collecting the 2% Medicare bonus must use an e-prescribing software or EMR that has been certified to connect to the Surescripts network. Beyond that, the requirements for collecting the bonus in 2010 are relatively minimal. Eligible physicians need only report the e-prescription measure for at least 25 unique e-prescribing events during 2010.

As an added show of confidence in its e-prescribing solution, MTBC is now guaranteeing the 2% bonus for all providers who sign up for its billing and practice management services. If a provider using MTBC’s system fails to qualify for the 2% e-prescribing bonus, MTBC will reimburse that provider $2,000*—the average bonus amount for a typical Medicare-participating practice.

“We understand that some physicians are still hesitant to implement EMR technology and e-prescribing in their offices,” said Stephen Snyder, MTBC’s Chief Operating Officer. “Many have voiced skepticism as to whether they will actually ever receive the bonus offered under MIPPA if they take the necessary steps to e-prescribe. Our guarantee offers some measure of security in the fact that MTBC’s EMR 4.0 will allow providers to become eligible for the bonus.”

MTBC’s healthcare solutions offer the latest in medical billing, practice management and EMR technologies. Its EMR 4.0 seamlessly integrates with its web-based billing platform, providing physicians with a comprehensive practice management system that reduces expenses, increases collections and drastically improves overall practice efficiency.
