Modern Healthcare Recognizes Rex Healthcare as One of the Best Places to Work in Healthcare in the Nation

RALEIGH, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Rex Healthcare, a member of the UNC Health Care System, is pleased to announce that it has been selected as one of the best places to work in healthcare in the nation by Modern Healthcare for 2011.

Each year the magazine recognizes outstanding employers in the healthcare industry on a national level. Rex Healthcare is the only healthcare organization in the Triangle to be recognized this year and only one of two healthcare organizations in North Carolina to be recognized.

The 100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare ranking was announced at an awards conference and gala on Tuesday, Oct. 18 in Chicago. Members of the leadership team and several randomly selected co-workers accepted the award on behalf of the 5,200 co-workers employed at Rex. A full report will be published in a special Modern Healthcare supplement on Monday, Oct. 24.

“This recognition is a tremendous honor for everyone at Rex, our co-workers, physicians and volunteers,” said David Strong, president of Rex Healthcare. “We believe that being a ‘Best Place to Work’ translates into an organization that also provides excellent patient care. We are very pleased to join the other esteemed healthcare organizations on this prestigious national list.”

To celebrate the Modern Healthcare recognition and other recent “Best Places to Work” awards, Rex co-workers, physicians and volunteers will gather Thursday morning on the main campus in Raleigh and “Hug a Hospital.” The event will begin shortly after 10 a.m., just outside the hospital’s main entrance.

This is the third time Rex Healthcare has been named to the Best Places to Work by Modern Healthcare, receiving the honor in 2008 and 2009.
