Mintz Levin Attorney Stephen Weiner to Speak at National Federation of Municipal Analysts Annual Conference

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Stephen M. Weiner, a member and chair of the Health Law practice of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., will participate in a workshop at the National Federation of Municipal Analysts, 28th Annual Conference. The conference takes place May 3-6 in Charleston, South Carolina.

Mr. Weiner will be part of a panel addressing changes in the health care landscape. Other participants on the panel include; Richard Cascio, Managing Director, Alvarez & Marsal Healthcare Industry Group, LLC; George M. Garrett, Managing Director, Development, Ardent Health Services; and Vincent D. Joseph, Executive Vice President, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, New Jersey

Mr. Weiner has more than 30 years of experience in health care as a policy maker, educator, and attorney representing health care services providers in a broad array of matters, in the U.S. and abroad. He has been active in the development of Massachusetts’ signature health care reform program as well as in the implementation of the Commonwealth’s electronic health record initiative. Internationally, he played a key role in structuring the health care regulatory system for Dubai Healthcare City and represents many organizations engaged in “medical tourism.”

Mr. Weiner currently serves as a board member of the Massachusetts Health Council and is the board chair of The HealthWell Foundation, one of the leading national charitable organizations providing financial assistance to underinsured persons in need of high cost drug treatments. He served as a board member of the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston and of the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and as a member of the House of Delegates of the Massachusetts Easter Seal Society.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Weiner served as Chairman of the Massachusetts Rate Setting Commission, Special Assistant to the Governor of Massachusetts for health policy and Director of the Boston University Center for Law and Health Sciences.
