Medweb Introduces PACS Cloud Services with Image Exchange

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, and MINNEAPOLIS, MN, June 3, 2010 - Today at the annual meeting of the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM), Medweb announced a new PACS cloud computing service that shares computing power resources to provide a lower-cost image management, archive and exchange solution for healthcare facilities. The solution allows the ad hoc transfer of DICOM studies between any healthcare facility regardless of PACS vendor and eliminates the need for a dedicated VPN by using Medweb's advanced, downloadable, encrypted gateway for an instant HIPAA-compliant conduit. Medweb is showcasing this new service along with its existing PACS, RIS and teleradiology solutions at SIIM booth 334.

The company's IHE-compliant vendor-neutral archive is based on decades of experience integrating multiple PACS. Through a secure Internet connection, healthcare providers can exchange patient images and reports with Medweb's PACS cloud computing solution rather than burning CDs, printing film or faxing reports. Medweb PACS cloud computing service includes a redundant back-up.

"Medweb's new PACS cloud computing service provides a less expensive and more immediate method to share patient data than overnight delivery services," says Pete Killcommons, CEO of Medweb. "With our service, facilities can avoid technology obsolescence and implement a scalable infrastructure that grows with them."

Medweb's Web-based PACS cloud computing solution will have the capability to integrate medical imaging with information management via Cross-Enterprise Document Sharing (XDS), a critical component to creating a longitudinal patient record.  Medweb PACS cloud computing service is built on a highly reliable, redundant, secure and HIPAA-compliant infrastructure that is the foundation of Medweb's healthcare IT solutions.
