Medstreaming Receives ONC-ATCB Certification by Drummond Group for Its Medical Office EMR

Leader in Medical IT Solutions Introduces First Fully Integrated EMR and PACS

REDMOND, Wash., March 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Medstreaming's Medical Office EMR has received Complete EHR Ambulatory certification, validating the EMR software and enabling providers to demonstrate stage 1 meaningful use and qualify for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).  Tested and certified under the Drummond Group's Electronic Health Records Office of the National Coordinator Authorized Testing and Certification Body (ONC-ATCB) program, Medstreaming's EMR software is stage 1-compliant for 2011/2012, in accordance with the criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

"We are very proud that healthcare providers can now leverage our cloud-based Medical Office Suite to demonstrate stage 1 meaningful use and address the problems associated with medical data fragmentation between PACS and EMR systems," said Wael Elseaidy, Medstreaming CEO.

Medstreaming, a leading provider of medical IT solutions, recently introduced the Medical Office EMR at the Healthcare Informatics and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) annual conference.  The FDA-cleared software, now fully certified for stage 1 meaningful use, is one of the first and only integrated PACS (picture archiving and communications system) and EMR systems that provides a single backend cloud database architecture.

"We are very impressed with the comprehensive nature of Medstreaming's EMR package and how it integrates seamlessly into our network," said Shawn Foley, CEO of Nevada Heart and Vascular. "By working directly on a single integrated EMR and PACS database, the technology allows much wider integration of all patient data which supports a more robust continuum of patient care. The support from Medstreaming has been excellent as well and we look forward to our ongoing partnership."

Medical Office for EMR is a comprehensive suite of offerings focused on enabling proactive patient care and increasing the efficiency of healthcare delivery by providing clinical care solutions. These include complete scheduling, provider dashboard and patient evaluation programs. Prescription and lab orders can be electronically sent while enabling an up-to-date database for each individual patient record.  Patient reminders can be created based on diagnosis, medication, allergies, lab results and demographics. Quality assurance measures are found throughout the system including the tracking of physician's meaningful use measures and report generation.

Medical Office EMR is HIPAA compliant, audits all user activity and tracks each user operation of patient information whether accessing, creating, updating or deleting. The system is highly interoperable and facilitates rapid communications either intra-clinical or inter-clinical with the referring physician.

"A single platform EMR/PACS system, this technology represents the next generation of cloud based EMR's where there is no need for expensive HL7 interfaces and complex IT infrastructure.   No longer will customers be required to purchase special interfaces to share data between traditional EMR and traditional PACS nor be limited by where and when you can access critical patient data.   For example, with the Medstreaming platform, DICOM images and DICOM structured reporting will follow directly into EMR and scheduling data will be pushed automatically from EMR to imaging acquisition devices in one unified worklist solution," added Elseaidy.

About Medstreaming

The medical industry has an extremely fragmented data management structure. To address this fragmentation and to coordinate the structure for various clinical modality applications, PACS functions, information management systems, medical data mining, accreditation and reporting packages, one needs an integrative all-in-one platform that is both flexible and easily extensible. Medstreaming's Medical Office platform is designed to address and bridge this gap, and is capable of doing so to meet the needs of a clinical practice (medical workflow) as well as an office practice (office workflow).
