The agreement is the next natural step in the group's deployment of Allscripts. Medical & Surgical Clinic of Irving has been using the Allscripts Document Management solution, a first step towards a full Electronic Health Record, since 2004.

"Allscripts document management has allowed us to eliminate paper charts in our practice and now we're ready to take our practice to the next level with a full EHR," said Jeffry Duke, Executive Director of Medical & Surgical Clinic of Irving. "The EHR will help us continue to deliver high quality patient care while also qualifying our physicians for the federal stimulus incentives."

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will pay physicians between $44,000 and $64,000 for utilizing a certified Electronic Health Record beginning in 2011 as part of a program approved by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act  (ARRA) of 2009.

Medical & Surgical Clinic of Irving selected Allscripts for its market leadership in Electronic Health Record technology, as well as the group's positive six-year history with the company. "We've had an excellent, long-term relationship with Allscripts including great support for the implementation of document management, which we think bodes well for the EHR journey we're now undertaking together," said Duke.

"The physicians of Medical and Surgical Clinic of Irving were early pioneers of the paperless medical practice and understand that going paperless is an important step, but only the  first step towards the information revolution that a full electronic health record represents," said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts.   "We're thankful that they, along with thousands of other leading physician groups across the country who have used Allscripts solutions for years, turned to Allscripts for their electronic health record and to ensure they will qualify for the federal stimulus incentives."

The Allscripts Electronic Health Record is an easy-to-deploy, physician-centric solution that improves the delivery of safe, cost-effective, high-quality care.  The Electronic Health Record provides caregivers instant and secure access to the complete patient record anytime and anywhere, while automating everyday clinical tasks and connecting physicians to pharmacies, laboratories and other healthcare stakeholders.

The Allscripts Document Management solution, a first step towards a full Electronic Health Record, is a proven medical document management solution used by more than 18,000 healthcare professionals throughout the U.S.
