Dr. Gregg to advance insurers’ commitment to patient safety and policyholder support

MAG Mutual Insurance Company, the Southeast’s foremost medical professional liability insurer, has welcomed Mary G. Gregg, MD, FACS, MHA, to its executive team as chief medical officer.
In her role, Dr. Gregg will provide educational guidance and continue MAG Mutual’s open dialogue with policyholders, developing tailor-made patient-safety programs based on specific needs. She will also confer with and advise MAG Mutual leadership on regional and national medical trends, claims activities and how to best serve policyholders.

Dr. Gregg brings more than 25 years of experience in cardiac surgery, patient safety and hospital administration. She most recently served as medical director of quality and patient safety and the vice president of medical affairs with Swedish Health Services—one of the Northwest’s largest non-profit health systems, located in Seattle. Dr. Gregg also held the position of medical director for Clinical Outcomes Assessment and Performance (COAP) at the Foundation for Healthcare Quality (FHCQ), as well as serving as the medical director of clinical quality at Swedish Heart and Vascular Institute.
Dr. Gregg earned her medical degree at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and was formerly the chief resident in general surgery at Yale, New Haven Hospital in Connecticut. She completed her cardiothoracic surgery graduate fellowship at Washington University, Barnes Hospital. She was awarded her certificate of medical management at the University of Washington in Seattle, as well as her executive program master’s degree in healthcare administration (MHA) in 2004.
