Krames StayWell Launches Exit-Writer Version 8.0 featuring ePrescribing and ONC-ATCB Certification

YARDLEY, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Krames StayWell (KSW) has announced the newest release of its industry-leading Emergency Medicine Discharge Program, Krames Exit-Writer Version 8.0. In response to client demand, the newest version of Exit-Writer features e-prescribing via integration of RCopia e-prescribing solution from Dr. First. “Exit-Writer was the first discharge program to feature fax prescribing to pharmacies in an effort to improve communication and safety,” explained Tom Bayless, COO Discharge Solutions at Krames StayWell. “And we are proud to be the first emergency medicine discharge solution to offer true e-Prescribing.”

Krames Exit-Writer v8 is 2011/2012 compliant and was certified as EHR Modules on January 24, 2012 by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT®), an ONC-ATCB, in accordance with the applicable eligible provider and hospital certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. The 2011/2012 criteria support the Stage 1 meaningful use measures required to qualify eligible providers and hospitals for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

“It was important that we launched Exit-Writer Version 8.0 with ONC-ATCB Certification to ensure we help our clients in their efforts to qualify for Meaningful Use incentives,” added Mr. Bayless. “We also wanted to assure our clients using Exit-Writer Version 7.3 that they can update to Exit-Writer Version 8.0 and still meet the certification criteria that Exit-Writer 7.3 addressed.”

The ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 certification program tests and certifies that Complete EHRs meet all of the 2011/2012 criteria and EHR Modules meet one or more – but not all – of the criteria approved by the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) for either eligible provider or hospital technology. “CCHIT is pleased to be testing and certifying products so that companies are now able to offer these products to providers who wish to purchase and implement certified EHR technology and achieve meaningful use in time for the 2011-2012 incentives," said Karen M. Bell, M.D., M.S.S., Chair, CCHIT.
