Konica Minolta, ScImage Team up to Integrate Digital X-rays into eClinicalWorks EMR

Wayne, NJ, November 28, 2010 - Konica Minolta announced today that Gray Family Health (Gray, GA) has completed their ImagePilot to EMR integration and can now register patients and access patient images through their eClinicalWorks EMR. Konica Minolta collaborated with ScImage (Los Altos, CA), an enterprise imaging solution provider, and eClinicalWorks (Westborough, MA), a developer of EMR and EHR solutions, to create a seamless, integrated workflow where patient information and associated medical images are automatically accessible from the Gray Family Health's EMR. The integration solution provided by Konica Minolta utilizes Scimage's PicomWeb for viewing images through the EMR.

Earlier this year, Gray Family Health purchased an all-in-one ImagePilot to convert their radiographic system to digital. Integrating the ImagePilot with the EMR was the practice's next step for workflow enhancement.

"All parties - Konica Minolta, Scimage, and eClinicalWorks - worked cooperatively to handle the technical and workflow requirements," says Linda Arnold, MD, of Gray Family Health. "Now, we can view X-rays on our eClinicalWorks laptops anywhere in the office. It saves us time in an appreciable way and our patients like that we can review the images with them in the exam rooms. This workflow improves patient care."

The fully-integrated solution automates the entire imaging process, from patient registration to image viewing. Konica Minolta teamed up with ScImage to facilitate the handling of HL7 communications and linking ScImage's PicomWeb image viewer to Gray's eClinicalWorks EMR. Today, the system eliminates redundant data entry, reduces errors and saves staff time.

"Konica Minolta continues to expand ImagePilot's capabilities to meet the needs of private practices," says Steven Eisner, Senior Marketing Manager at Konica Minolta. "And when there is a function that falls outside of our current features, we team up with our best partners. In this case, Scimage worked with us to create the workflow that Gray desired. The advanced HL7 tools and the Web-based PicomWeb viewer contributed perfectly to this workflow solution."
