Kaiser Permanente Southern California’s Quality Care Receives NCQA’s Highest Ranking for California Medicare Plans

PASADENA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Kaiser Permanente Southern California’s Medicare Plan is ranked number 5 in the nation for member satisfaction, treatment, prevention and access, according to annual rankings of nearly 300 Medicare programs by the National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA), a private, non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. NCQA’s “Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2010-11 – Medicare” is available at www.ncqa.org/rankings.

“This ranking reflects how our members feel about the quality of care they are receiving from us,” said Jeffrey Weisz, MD, executive medical director for the Southern California Permanente Medical Group. “Beyond the great teamwork and the best technology, it’s the person to person contact that is our most valuable tool for promoting good health.”

“Kaiser Permanente Southern California is the health care quality leader in the State because we make your good health our priority,” said Benjamin Chu, MD, president, Kaiser Permanente Southern California. “This report is an acknowledgement of the commitment our physicians, nurses, health care professionals and support staff demonstrate at every point of contact with our members.”

NCQA accredits and certifies a wide range of health care organizations and recognizes physicians in key clinical areas. Today, 70 percent of Americans in health plans are in an NCQA Accredited plan.
