Kaiser CEO George Halvorson retiring

George Halvorson yesterday announced he is retiring from his post as CEO and chairman of Kaiser Permanente in December 2013. Halvorson will be ending a decade-long run as the head of one of the largest healthcare providers and health plans in the country. Serving as Kaiser CEO since 2002, he leaves behind a legacy of pushing through Kaiser's electronic health record system, KP HealthConnect, which according to a Kaiser, is the largest nongovernmental system in the world. He also helped implement a public health walking program and is credited with making Kaiser a top employer for diversity.
