Jonathan Bush and Girish Navani Discuss the Future of Healthcare IT

Xconomy Xchange Features Health IT Visionaries Exploring Current Trends and the Impact of Healthcare Reform

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- On September 29, Xconomy will host the Xconomy Xchange: Jonathan Bush and Girish Navani Face Off on the Future of Health IT. These leading executives will have a lively discussion of the challenges facing the healthcare IT industry, emerging technologies and trends, and the future of this critical economic sector. While both Bush and Navani have established their companies as major health IT players, each has used very different strategies to get there--and each holds a unique view of how the future of the industry will unfold.

Bush co-founded athenahealth (NASDAQ: ATHN), a public company specializing in Web-based practice management, electronic health record (EHR), and patient communication services to medical groups, and is an outspoken advocate for delivering Internet-enabled services to physicians. athenahealth helps medical providers nationwide realize faster payment, increased collections, and improved control over billing and clinical operations, enabling them to spend more time with their patients.

Navani is the CEO and co-founder of privately-held eClinicalWorks, which offers comprehensive EHR, Practice Management and Interoperability solutions on one of the largest cloud based computing platform. eClinicalWorks integrates technology at the point of care, extending the use of electronic health records beyond the practice walls and offering real-time connectivity between physician to patient, physician to physician, physician to health systems using Patient Portal , P2P and eClinicalWorks EHX Technologies.

Bush and Navani will have a frank and open discussion, moderated by Pamela McNamara, president of Cambridge Consultants. Topics will include the impact of healthcare reform, the increasing role of technology in healthcare, and how these forces might come together to reduce costs and improve efficiency--and help patients.

“Jonathan and Girish are two dynamic health technology leaders whose companies are blazing important trails in the growing market for electronic health records and healthcare revenue,” said Bob Buderi, founder and editor-in-chief of Xconomy. “This is a unique opportunity to hear two local leaders air their views on the current and future state of this increasingly important sector.”
