John Donahue Appointed to Medicalis Board of Directors as Vice Chairman

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Medicalis, Inc., a provider of information-driven clinical and workflow technology solutions that facilitate Coordinated Imaging Care (CICS™), recently appointed John Donahue to its board of directors as vice chairman.

“John is a pioneer in the management of diagnostic imaging and he has been instrumental in helping Medicalis build an industry-first offering to drive transparency and collaboration among imaging stakeholders,” said Peter Grua, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Medicalis. “He has a clear focus on driving quality patient care while demonstrating value to both providers and payers.”

“It has been a historical challenge to balance quality and utilization in diagnostic and therapeutic imaging,” said Donahue. “’With Medicalis we have the opportunity to finally bring the right combination of technology and content to the marketplace that enhances provider productivity, improves patient outcomes and lowers cost.”

Donahue lectures at a number of leading universities, including the Harvard School of Public Health, on imaging, medical management and health policy matters. On February 26, 2010 he testified in front of the House Committee on Energy & Commerce’s Subcommittee on Health regarding diagnostic imaging. His testimony spoke to the importance of leveraging clinical evidence, technology and policy to provide all Americans with clinically-appropriate, radiation-safe and affordable imaging care.

Donahue was the founder and chairman of National Imaging Associates, Inc. (NIA), a radiology benefits management (RBM) company, now a subsidiary of Magellan Health Services. Prior to that, he was the Senior Vice-President and CFO of two large international operating units for what is now Aventis Pharmaceuticals. Donahue holds an MBA in Finance and a BS in Information Systems.
