Internationally Acclaimed Innovator Daniel Kraft to Give Keynote Address at DIA 2013 49th Annual Meeting

Renowned Physician, Scientist, Inventor and Entrepreneur to Kick off 2013 Meeting

DIA today announced that physician, scientist, inventor and innovator Dr. Daniel Kraft will headline the opening session of the , to be held June 23–27 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. Visit to learn more about Kraft and watch him speak about the annual meeting.

Kraft, a Stanford- and Harvard-trained thought leader with more than 20 years of experience in clinical practice, biomedical research and innovation, is the executive director of FutureMed, a renowned program at Singularity University that fosters collaboration among biotechnology professionals to advance cutting edge technology in medicine and health care. Kraft will speak at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, June 24.

Kraft is well known in the international health community for his motivational, inspirational and enlightening talks about how rapidly growing technology, such as low-cost gene analysis, bio-informatics, telemedicine and social networking, can make care exponentially faster, smaller, cheaper and better. As the inventor of the MarrowMiner, an FDA-approved device for the minimally invasive harvest of bone marrow, and founder of RegenMed Systems, a company developing technologies to enable adult stem cell-based regenerative therapies, Kraft has extensive experience examining how technology trends will impact health and medicine.

“The integration of exponentially growing technologies is beginning to empower the patient, enable the doctor, enhance wellness and begin to cure the well before they get sick. In an age where a simple iPhone can be used as a diagnostic tool, I’m excited that DIA invited me to share the significance of leveraging technology to advance health care with such a collaborative community,” said Kraft. “With the theme ‘Advancing Therapeutic Innovation and Regulatory Science’ serving as the cornerstone of the meeting, we will explore how technology will help get the right drug, to the right person, at the right time.”

After his residency at Massachusetts General and Boston Children’s Hospital, the medicine and neuroscience chair at Singularity University completed fellowships at Stanford University in bone marrow transplantation, hematology and oncology, with extensive research in stem cell biology and regenerative medicine. Kraft has several scientific publications to his credit, including articles published in both Science and Nature The avid pilot and officer in the California Air National Guard is a former finalist for astronaut selection at NASA.

He recently founded IntelliMedicine, focused on advancing data-driven and integrated personalized medicine. Kraft has patented medical device, immunology and stem cell-related products through positions with Stanford University School of Medicine and as a member of the clinical faculty at the University of California, San Francisco.
